Southern Capital Project is committed to ensuring that all founders have access to the resources, funding, and opportunities they need to succeed.
Our Mission
To close the gender wealth gap by ensuring women in the South have equitable opportunities to build wealth. We believe in the power of women to build wealth for themselves, their families, and their communities.
We see two paths to wealth generation — business ownership and investing — and we work to open both to women who have historically been shut out of them.
Women often have to work twice as hard to make half as much as their male counterparts in the workplace. For women seeking to start a business, they face the additional bias of being underestimated. They are often viewed as “non-starters”.

Female-led ventures are 63 percent less likely than male-led ventures to obtain funding despite the fact that female founders achieve as much success as male entrepreneurs, if they secure funding.

Women, especially women of color, are still under-recognized in leadership roles in corporate America, and only one in four C-suite leaders is a woman.

There is missed opportunity to partner with women as they work to build successful local businesses that bolster the future economy. When more women-owned businesses succeed, families and communities thrive, and jobs are created.

Breaking the Cycle — By Aligning Our Values in a Circle
We understand that access to capital is crucial for wealth-building. That’s why we partner with multiple funders to ensure underserved small business owners have access to financing and resources to help them grow their businesses.
Women living in the South face specific hurdles when it comes to building wealth and achieving financial stability, including a higher poverty rate, limited options for affordable housing and good education, and a noticeable gender pay gap. We hope to tackle these issues and make sure every woman has the same opportunities to grow their wealth and achieve financial success.
